Perception and Attention

Today's topic was about "perception and attention". I was just thinking how I'm usure what exatly the illusions and pick pocket TedTalk (Apollo Robbins: The art of misdirection) have to do with organizational Behavior when it occurred to me that maybe they tie into spacial awareness and being cognizant of what others are doing around you. When Prof. Bryan asked at the end of the lecture, "what qualities should a good manager have?" I think he wanted us to realize that managers have an obligation or should at least be able to see what is around them at the workplace to make it better. Maybe a manager needs to learn how to take in all the details so that they are less likely to miss something crucial.
I realize more now how easy it is to miss something when I let my mind focus on one single thing. I think if I want to one day become a good manager I will need to work on taking in big pictures and avoid making important decisions or judgements with very little objective information to go off of.
I'd like to speak with my manager at work to see what he thinks about this...
